COVID-19 improves marriage in Japan

This is not a sick joke. In a survey carried out by Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company in Japan, 20% responded that their marital relationship improved due to COVID-19. 6% replied their relationship worsened, and 74% felt no change.

Those who experienced the improvement attribute it to having more occasions to communicate, dine together, and share housework and caring for the child.

Most Japanese salarymen work long hours without extra pay to demonstrate loyalty to their company. Some work until midnight. But not anymore! The coronavirus is forcing them to stay at home to spend time with their loved ones.

While the pandemic is taking away lives and livelihood around the world, at least one good thing came out of it in Japan.
